In collaboration with Krambamboul Projektmanagement, we succeeded in presenting a design for this competition initiated by the city of Antwerp.
At the Kasteelgracht of the Boekenberg Park there are four square playing fields connected by dividing center lines. These four playing fields were to be optically differentiated as they also have an ascending level of play difficulty. Thus, 4 playing zones would be shaped for children between the ages 0-12.
The competition guidelines were developed by Johan Pleraerts, the project manager from Antwerp. Construction planning was finalized by the end of November 2010.
The playground opening ceremony took place on 1 March and included a host of surprises for all age groups.
Zone 1, a “small box play” themed area is safe and level and suitable for kids up to age 3.
Zone 2, the “bit by bit” themed area puts on display circular platforms as well as a slide opportunity for children aged 3-9.
Zone 3, the “cable drum” themed area offers unusual play and climbing elements for children aged 3-9.
Zone 4, the “compact” themed constructive playing facility offers climbing nets within a geometrical, right-angled space for kids from 6-12.
