The “AllerleiRohr” (Anything Goes Tube) Playground

Oppenheimer Platz in Frankfurt am Main was in urgent need of complete restoration and restructuring in 2014. The playground was visually separated from the park grounds and two separate play stations were planned.
For small children, we set up a tubular tunnel and an easy-to-access climbing platform featuring a slide along with standard play equipment including swings and sandboxes. Colorful steel tubes were used for the supports here but they also serve as connecting and uniting element for the entire play system.

For the older children, a tubular tunnel and a climbing ensemble with a long slide was assembled; it includes various balancing elements, “benches for chilling,” a hammock, a stand-up see-saw and a double swing. The entire play system is thus constructed out of colorful steel tubes (hot galvanized and powder coated) in connection with platforms and oak climbing stairs. A polypropylene Hercules rope dam serves as a climbing rope ensemble or handrails while also connecting the steel tubes to one other. This results in a playground where play will involve an interesting mix of alertness and dexterity. But the grounds also offer relaxing areas on the platforms, for example, where children can meet and interact.
