The office of Wiedemann + Schweizer took responsibility for the restructuring of the Röckenwiesenstrasse playground in Stuttgart West. A presentation of various projects carried out by us in the region – as well as a number of references provided – paved the way for this commission and we were able to jointly begin with the design of the play equipment.

It was highly desired that radiant colors and an associated “lightheartedness” be manifested in the equipment. This succeeded very well by using the contrasting colors of blue and orange in connection with colorful wood surfaces. Round platforms are mounted on colorful poles like randomly thrown Frisbee discs, yet these poles also furnish the needed support. The large slide tower also offers lots of room for hiding. Some distance away, a hut for toddlers has been attached to one of the “disc platforms.” It is quieter and flatter here, various sandbox elements invite the small children to play.
