Together with Krambamboul Projektmanagement, we entered the \"BV Ghent Rabot – Playground \"completion with a towering “Mikado structure” in March of 2011. The competition’s objective was to achieve a highly abstract, functional and dynamic playing course with all of the standard climbing elements and a big slide.
Apart from the climbing structure, which proceeds along beams that lie askew and place a high demand of children’s motor skills, there were also plans for a transition into the area for toddlers. This section would have a hut and a sandbox. We solved this problem by putting into place a “filter” that would only allow access to climbing-adept, older children within the structure. It was thus possible to cleverly bring together both age groups within this relatively small play area.
Our idea won over the city of Ghent and by July / August 2011, we had realized this playground.
