“Zülpich Millennial Garden – From Roman Times to the 21st Century“

Zülpich, once a Roman settlement and Roman bath with a castle from the Middle Ages, a moat and city gates, brings together the past with the present under this motto.

In close cooperation with the landscape architects from RMP Stephan Lenzen and the landscape and sports grounds construction company Frank Weindorf, a new fantasy playground for children up to 10 years of age was built. This playground was designed and constructed in connection with the State Garden Show 2014;
we at Zimmer.Obst were tasked with designing and decorating the special wood elements used.

Thus, where once there stood a time-worn playground waiting to be dismantled, a large, customized play and common area was created.
Between large wooden elements with forms meant to mirror the tower pinnacles of Landsburg, climbing ropes, cables and various nets were strung and a large climbing wall was installed. Within the wooden elements themselves, diverse play and exercise elements can be discovered. A slide and a swing make the play experience complete. There is a near-continuous play and physical activity sequence through the various wooden sculptures that are connected to one another. Nearly all of the wooden bodies also have a terrace-like first floor on which the children can be seen and called to. A game of hide-and-seek that is fanciful, imaginative and full of surprises awaits those who come here to play.
