Already in 2010, we received an inquiry from Frau Hofman of the Lohaus und Carl landscape architecture office in Hanover concerning the BV Bochum Schlosspark. The preferred subject matter was “castle ghosts\" in a highly stylized form, in other words, without the need of having to recognize the ghosts as such. Only in their slightly sweeping shape and in their transparency were they to be reminiscent of something ghostlike. In the run-up to this project, there had been some citizens’ (including children’s) participation and thus the city of Bochum and the architect’s office was interested in realizing as many of the children’s requests as possible. Among their desires were a swing and a bouncy trampoline within the climbing course, as well as climbing nets. The three “castle ghost” figures were intended to pull together the playground. Thus, bent stainless steel tubing and a mounted climbing net were used to create a connection.
The playground was then also extended with a long wooden play deck and a giant treasure chest that can be climbed. It was installed in Bochum in December of 2011.
