In the course of redesigning and restoring Beeskow Castle, plans were devised to also redesign the northern tip of the Spree Island and turn it into a tourist magnet. As part of these efforts, pedestrian and bike paths in the immediate vicinity of the city center will be augmented. Opportunities will be created to experience nature (i.e. opening new vistas to both the Wehr River and the Spree Valley floodgate).
The objective was an expansion of the harbor basin to include a modern slipway and docking opportunities for excursion boats (Spreewaldkahn) as well as creating a venue for harbor and city festivals. The conception of the individual play points aligns with this goal. Indeed, the intention was not to create action-filled play opportunities but rather to convey interesting, worthwhile information related to the location and its special features. To this end, we integrated educational signposts at the various play points. This gives both kids and adults a fun way to learn interesting facts about Beeskow and the surrounding area, including the Spree Canal.
