As part of a competition, the city of Kempen invited us to submit a design for a tower, which was to symbolize the award-winning “Künstlerlandschaft„ Spielplatz (coastal landscape playground) (see Stadt + Raum journal, No. 4, 2004, P. 248). In this endeavor, we beat 10 other competitors.
The red-and-white striped tower is already visible on the sloped playground from far away – a true landmark! The tower entrance can be reached via an undulating gangplank. One then continues along small level planes up toward a podium from which a slide leads back down.

The tower is mounted onto a steel reinforcement cage construction in B cement; the structural timber and panels are made of oak while the screw connections are stainless steel.
