In the Fall of 2001, one of our bigger commissions was the design and construction of the Mücka-Neudorf-Kreba nature trail in the Upper Lusatia biosphere reserve. The conception and design of the info plaques was handled by Planungsbüro Lutra. Biologists, landscape planners and graphic artists had been working on the overall thematic and educational concept here since March, 2000.
Our job was to design the signposts themselves - both with and without interactive elements. Additionally, 15 play stations were created to playfully convey interesting information concerning nature, the environment and history.
Our decision to work on oak trunks with a chainsaw and to use the resulting course-structured beams as a stable framework for all the static components was persuasive. In contrast to the nature trail in place previously, we succeeded in creating an inviting and playful learning environment. This was made possible through our varied design and the extensive sensory experience offered.
