It has been quite some time since a carnival has taken place at the Dingden fairground.
While the town center may still be the central gathering point for small events and festivals, it has increasingly lost its appeal over the years.
This is why the city of Hamminkeln decided to get the old fairground redesigned. Consequently, a call for tender was launched for a customized playground in Dingden at the beginning of the year.
The town wanted customized play equipment for the roughly 375 m2 playground. Giant “candy canes” were to be scattered everywhere across the entire area.
The distinctive white-and-red stripped posts result in a play equipment ensemble with integrated add-on components including a balancing beam and a climbing course featuring a play tower and sliding platform. Also available for young visitors are a low “rope garden”, a swing and a both a balancing bench and a circular bench for sitting wrapped around a tree. The wonderful mature trees were incorporated into the playground design.
The Candy Cane Playground is quite an eye-catcher and also offers the children appealing play and climbing possibilities. In fact, the “sweets design” of the play area recreates a real carnival feeling.
The redesign of the area has succeeded in reviving the town center since it was build over the summer.
