A new downtown Heilbronn tanning & dyeing-themed play area was designed for the same named Gerbergasse (lit. tanning alley).
From 2010, this play combination had been under discussion at Heilbronn’s Parks Department. The idea that we put forward is based on the medieval craftsman guilds for dyers and tanners. “Giant wooden vats with dyeing liquids” in various nuances are lined up. Large wooden stirrers protrude from these wooden vats.
This time, the basic idea was not to create an edged-in sand surface with equipment but rather have the vats themselves serve as platforms for the play equipment. Setting up the play area right on the pavement of Gerbergasse meant that the equipment height had to comply with EN 1176 by not exceeding 60 cm. Without impact protection material there can be no exception to this rule.
Despite its low height, this playground still features balancing beams, rubber mats and colorful rubber platforms. There are also plenty of hiding spaces. The crawl-through tunnel through the vats provides additional playing fun on Heilbronn’s new city-center playground.
The playground will be opened in May of this year.
