Merkendorf at the city walls in miniature

Opposite the historical city wall of Merkendorf lies the children’s playground “Stadtgraben meeting point“.
It is a multi-purpose playground for young and old.
The grounds represent the City of Merkendorf in miniature. There is, for example, a city gate and a city wall that both serve as a balancing / climbing structure. The Weaver and Tanning Quarter boasts “weaving loom” styled climbing equipment and many opportunities to balance. Additionally, there is a playhouse in the form of a small church and a market place that was designed to look like the original one. The little visitors are playfully introduced to the history of Merkendorf through this playground.
For the little ones, the mud-and-water play area is a special highlight. Additional playground equipment such as spring riders in the form of knight’s horses and an observation deck with an open half-tube slide are de rigueur for a new and exciting adventure playground. They were cleverly situated within the grounds thus creating several view axes and common references to the area.
For accompanying adults, there is a lawn for sunbathing that includes some stone seats. Local artists can present their works on the playground’s “art mile”.
