Once again, we submitted Viking-themed designs as part of a competition sponsored by the Belgian company DELPHI Group VCR. At a pedestrian path along the “Schelde” at Linkeufer (river) bank opposite the Altstadt, a play opportunity for children was planned.

Archeological finds in Antwerp from the Viking era inspired the city to pick up this theme. There is also an historical association that researches Vikings and shows how Vikings lived. We sought guidance and discussed our designs with the association members. Symbolic elements on the equipment groups, abstract Viking residences, yardsticks, cableways and springed platforms offer children a welcome change of pace.

For the opening ceremony, association members came dressed up as Vikings and demonstrated some of the Vikings’ old traditions; it was a great show.
